Without goals, it can feel as if we lack focus or direction. But first, we need to know how to set them! We’re sharing 3 steps to formulating a goal, its plan of attack and how to keep accountable.
Manifest your goals
It’s easy to name dozens of things we want for our business and our lives, but this is often defined by the things we don’t want. Shift your mindset and start positively manifesting.
Take a quiet moment to truly consider your goals for 2020 and beyond – what do they look like? What are their qualities? How are they defined? What will achieving them mean to you and your business? Write them down.
These could be:
- Introduce a new product or service to your business
- Increase your retail sales by 50%
- Bring on a salon manager to allow more time for other business opportunities
- Attend more networking events
- Open a second location
A way to continue positively manifesting these goals throughout the new year is to stick them up in places that will remind you to do so. This could be on your bathroom mirror, written on your phone, in your diary/goal setting notebook or even stuck to your computer screen.
Steps for success
Once you’ve manifested your 2020 goals, what steps do you need to take to achieve them?
When setting large goals for the year, the best way to kick things off is breaking it down into smaller ones. You might not know all of the steps required straight away but taking small steps towards your goal is pointing you in the right direction!
These actionable steps make a goal seem more achievable and provide you with small wins throughout the year on your journey to the overarching goal.
Most importantly, be accountable to yourself and your goals by setting deadlines.
Make it a team effort
Do you review of how your week has tracked, your achievements and opportunities for improvements? Make time in your week to review your goals to keep them well and truly alive.
If you’re feeling stuck or unmotivated, get your team invested in your goals too. After all, many hands making light work! Ways to do this include group brainstorm sessions or offering incentives for exceeding sales goals.
Motivate yourself by utilising industry groups, events and networking functions. These likeminded people can assist you in gaining new perspectives, tips and hearing success stories.
Don’t forget, goals are constantly changing. They might result in something nothing like what you originally anticipated. Embrace and celebrate its evolution.
